Contracts

A collective agreement is the written agreement that Føroya Arbeiðarafelag (the trade union) enters into with Føroya Arbeiðsgevarafelag (the Employers’ Association). Negotiations usually take place every second year, and the agreement is therefore typically valid for two years, after which a new agreement is concluded with the changes agreed upon by the parties.

In the collective agreement, we can see, among other things, what the wage rates are and what notice period we are entitled to.

As of 1 May 2025, the union has a minimum hourly wage of DKK 154.54.

Young workers aged 14 receive 50%, and those aged 15 and 16 receive 75% of the adult wage rate, both for regular hours and overtime.

Depending on the type of work and the length of employment, there are certain supplements (allowances) to which members are entitled.

According to Article 11 of the main collective agreement, an employee must always be paid for at least 2 hours, even if the work lasts for a shorter period.
